The Pay per second Tariff War – Cheap Calls in India

November 6th, 2009

Pay per second collageTata Docomo was the first telecom company that launched a pay per second tariff plan in India. They targeted the large audience who are in the habit of keeping track of their call time. Soon after, all other popular telecom service providers like Aircel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone and Airtel also introduced similar plans to have a piece of the pie and provide their esteemed customers more value for money.

The latest to join pay per second bandwagon, Bharti Airtel will be charging its customers one paisa per second for all Local and STD calls to Airtel numbers and 1.20 paise per second for local and STD calls to other networks. Vodafone rolled out a similar plan a couple of days before the Bharti Airtel offer.

Idea Cellular, Aircel, and Tata Docomo, however, are offering pay per second tariff plan across networks.

Mobile messenger cost; cheaper than SMS

Mobile messenger cost; cheaper than SMS

Have you ever thought about exactly how Mobile Chatting helps you to communicate more while paying less?? Here are some interesting numbers for the value minded that we have put together.

A chat message of 160 characters (length of a SMS) will have about 250 bytes of data (probably less) so 0.25 Kb per message.

Our research shows that in a single chat session average number of messages sent via mobile is 6 and received is 6. We therefore have (6 + 6) * 0.25 = 3KB data per chat session.

Accordingly, we have collated the charges prevalent with some of the major telecom operators in the country for a better understanding. The table below will give you a clear comparison on the costs involved between mobile messenger and text messages.

Mobile Messenger is better than SMS – Cost Comparison

October 1st, 2009

Mobile Messenger

In our continuous effort to provide value for each paisa of yours, we have put together a comparative analysis on How ‘Mobile Messenger’ is better than Short Messaging Service (SMS). According to TRAI, Average SMS cost on most networks for local SMS is Re. 1, and for STD SMS is higher at Rs. 2. Even if one is subscribing to free SMS plans, there is an added component of increased rental (for Post paid) or a monthly charge deducted from your balance (for Pre paid).

Chatting on a mobile messenger will however only cost you almost nothing as compared to the amount invested in the SMS.

Additionally you avoid the frustration of dealing with the limit of 160 characters per SMS.
