Imagine that there is no extra roaming charge when you travel all over the country. Yes, it may now be possible according to a mandate that may be passed by Telecom Regulatory Association of India (TRAI). There won’t be any roaming charges applied nationwide from next year. There is no such fixed date as in when the rule will come into play; it is tentatively set for early next year.
The decision by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) will definitely benefit the common man in India as it will make it easier for the people who travel constantly or relocate to other parts of the country to hang on to their mobile numbers and spend less on communication. Mobile operators are not too happy about this though, as the move will require major changes in infrastructure and policy, but only benefit 10% of the total subscriber base that actually uses national roaming.
There’s a huge debate waiting on this decision, whether it is a boon or a curse? The only one who is definitely benefiting from this policy is the Common Man.
