With so many comments about Tata Docomo’s plan details in our previous blog posts, we have been noticing that you are eager to know the Tata DoCoMo Prepaid GPRS Plans details and cost in India. Tata Docomo has 5 different packs for its prepaid customers with variable usage patterns.

How to get these packs:

Available on special EVD recharge.
Recharge Instruction for Rs 5 pack: To activate SMS “GPRS” to 121.
Daily Pass valid till 12:00 midnight on the day of activation.

I don’t think its a better plan.. Cos aicell provides unlimitted browsing for 98 rs, and valied for 30 days.. And i am using idea its giving 2gb daily for 98 rs for one month. So why should think abt 6gb in one month?… Which can b got over wd n 2 or 3 days.!!!??…

hey this Ankit from Delhi, i use Airtel and i have unlimited data plan for just Rs98/month, but not worth.. The speed of Airtel GPRS is not good enough here.. All airtel users is waiting for deewali, coz airtel will be releasing 3g around deewali.. Iam using nokia 5800 and desprately waiting for 3g service in India.. Thanx

Docomo is best or other operator just liar like airtel and aircel. This opertor speed is 1.35kbps. But docomo speed is 22 kbps anytime to used.

I have used all network mobile GPRS. Airtel is best but in few days that also become slow. At present i am using BSNL. Bsnl 2G gprs very good speed. I think u can go for tata docomo which gives u 6GB for Rs.95 valid for 30 days. Because in tata docomo GPRS using customers are few and net speed will be good. Go for it.:)

Some guys said that tata have 22kbps speed.I think he is in dream land.I’m using Airtel.Here all networks have speed of 5.1kbps.Airtel have speed of 10.9kbps from night 2.00am from 9.00am..So i think Airtel is better than all others

Sometime the speed depends on ur handset. I am having 2 hands one is intex in5030 and the other is LG. I am using Airtel gprs which gives 1.2 to 1.5 Kbps on intex whereas the same sim gives 10 to 12 Kbps on LG handset. Anybody can explain why it happens. I think this is because the modem quality these manufacturer uses.

Hey, richu, whatever, comment on tata docomos speed only when you have used it. You say that you are using airtel so how can you comment on docomo. I m using docomo gprs from past six moths & i m very satisfied with it. You said airtel has speed arround 10kbps at night bla bla bla…use tata docomo then u wil come to know that it really got the speed more than 10kbps & sometimes over 20 kbps…& for ur kind information i too was using airtel before tata docomo…in terms of speed it rocks…

I can’t use nimbuzz with docomo. Everything connects through the internet access point, but nimbuzz doesn’t. I have a windows mobile 6.1 and whenever i start nimbuzz, it always keeps saying connecting and then shows error connection lost reconnecting. I have no issues when i use my airtel sim on the same phone, it connects in an isntant. Please help.

Ya Pratham,you are absolutely correct.I changed my connection to Tata.Firstly i used tata.It was in last nov-dec,at that time tata have no speed and limited M.B usage.But now i’m surprising.Tata have 20-30kbps speed.But the only problem is sometimes it failing to connect and sometimes huge speed decrease while downloading something.

I m gonna try it & check whether it is better than docomo or not…

Dude, this variable speed in different phones depends on their class of gprs. E.g. I m using nokia 5233 which is having class 32 gprs. Just check ur phone’s specifications on google…

Accidently I have visited this forum & the users doesn’t bother about their handset modem speed. Only they blame the service provider. To help them I have shared my experiece. Right now I am using Airtel GPRS. I also have a tata docomo connection for which I will try it and let u know how much speed I get.

this is Gowtham from Tamilnadu…. Poor customer care in docomo….. i complained about my internet connection in customer care…. they disconnected the line all of a sudden….. one thing they said was “the mistake in gprs is on our side and it takes 7days to clear”. i activated gprs for 7days and totally waste… help me… is that true there is a problem in docomo gprs in Coimbatore dist., Tamil Nadu

I took reliance,videocon sims last week.I checked the speed of both.Then i came to know that Tata have most speed than any other.And another news is now tata doing network updating for giving us constant speed of 50kbps.Videocon have Edge technology but it is not actived so its speed limits on 13kbps.I think tata is most customer friendly service provider.Thanks a lot Tata

I really got surprised that above statement says constant speed of 50 kbps. Dear all, pl understand the difference between kbps & kBps. There is a difference between lower b & Capital B. Lower b represents for bits and upper B for Bytes. 8b = 1B. 50kbps = 6.25 kBps which u already enjoying.
Secondly, pl note that even if u have a wired broadband or interent, I can challenge u that u will not get constant speed. Constant speed means there should not be any kind of fluctuation. After all we are using a wireless technology for internet surfing. I am having 2 broadband connections from the past 6 years and never got constant speed so far. So far, any technology on internet able to give u a constant speed.

Thirdly, there are users complaining about the speed. This wireless interenet technology is give u a maximum of 20 kBps and we have to look forward for any improvement from these service providers. Before complaining, First check ur handset gprs class & edge. There are six classes a, b, c, class 10, class 12 and class 32 and moreover, check the slots for ul & dl. This is most important for ur ul/dl.

If u check gprs it says yes (Check it for what extent)
If u check bluetooth it says yes. In bluetooth a2dp which supports stereophonic sound, whereas normal bluetooth just supports mono.

Finally, for better surfing Pl see that ur handset have atleast GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 – 48 kbps. and if it has EDGE: Class 10, 236.8 kbps. I don’t think all these service providers have enabled their EDGE technology which is much more faster than gprs. hey kini,just try tata docomo.You know only the speed of 4 or 6 kBps.tata already provide the speed of 25kBps now.And within one week it will reach the speed of 45-50 kBps.Upgrading of network is going on.Come back after using it.Reply to last author.

Dear Richu, I don’t want to comment. All these issues are fully technically based. I think u get good signals at ur area. Pl note that the signal varies from one area to another. I am from bangalore. Here people say that Aircell is much faster than docomo. However, I don’t want to comment on these issues, since this forum is meant only for tata docomo users as u said in ur earlier mail. One mr. Goutham from Coimbatore has complained about the speed. Pl try to help him instead of promoting docomo. One more thing i would like to clear is, pl understand nobody feeds u, unless they get something from u. All these service providers are here to make money and not charity. Pl keep this always in ur mind. What best we can do is help someone those who are needed.
Finally I will come to ur point. I am having 2 bsnl broadband wired connections apart from 1 EVDO connection. I am having a tata docomo gprs which I have not tried, as there was no necessity for it. I requested Richu in this connection, but he has not responded. However, I will try to solve ur problem. Pl let me know ur mobile make and model. What OS u r using currently for your gprs on ur pc or u r browsing only on ur handset.
Customer care will not help u unless they know something about it. Better u call between 10 am & 5 pm, bcz some technically qualified in CC is available at that time. Just try. I think definitely CC will help u out of this.
No doubt tata docomo have a good speed. Here i tried in my nokia handset with tata docomo & airtel. Tata docomo gave me 10-12 kBps whereas airtel 18-22 kBps. It totally depends on the area from where u connected and the tower should be nearby. Pl also let me know the signal bars on ur mobile, i.e. how many u get them (maximum 4). If u get 4 of 4 then the signal strength is good.
I wondered when the CC guy said 7 days. I think the guy who contacted u is doesn’t have any proper knowledge about gprs and he has escaped say that it takes 7 days.

My mobile model is nokia 3600 slide, and i’m using gprs only on mobile…. even today i contacted customer care… they are holding my call more than 20min and disconnecting…….. i’m fed up with docomo… my tower strength is full{4 signal bar)…. the error msg that my handset shows is “pocket data connection not available…. pls pls help me….

Nokia 3600 is a good phone which having class 32 gprs and 32 EDGE and a multislot class. Performance of GPRS is best described its Multislot Class. Speed of GPRS is directly proportional to TDMA time slots. Multislot Class starts from 1 to 12 and then jumps directly to 32. Here Class 32 GPRS has the best performance of all the classes.

This means ur phone should work perfectly with good gprs connection. Just check setting on ur phone. We should not blame operators. When I google for this problem I found this is not the operator problem but this is problem of nokia. Just call nokia care I think they solve ur problem. Then this is because of poor signal. I can suggest u one thing, u can change the service provider to Aircell which is having very good speed and unlimited plans. Before that just have a gprs enabled aircell sim from one of ur friends and try for it. If it doesnt have gprs just subscribe for 1 day which costs u 5 rs.

As I indicated earlier u have not mentioned the signal bars on ur phone. Pl see u have a good signal in ur area. If the signal is good then gprs must work.

Hey Goutham,why you can’t try internet on another sim?As Kini said Airtel have a good network speed.Just try in another sim.Here airtel have speed of 5.1 here.But it varies in areas.I suggest you to try M.T.S.It have the top speed in india.I don’t know whether it is available in G.S.M or not

This is some kind of great problem. I have not understood. His sim works on other parts of the city and not at home. That means there is no problem either on the part of operator or his handset. Secondly his friend’s tata docomo sim works in his house and not his. It is very difficult to make out. I can suggest that he can change his sim to his friend’s handset and try for it & at the same time his friend’s sim he can try on his handset. Goodluck

heyyyy Gagan,you didn’t mentioned about your place or the model of handset.In kerala tata have most higher speed.May in your place the speed is decreased because of too much network conjection.Anyways at first contact the customer care.And one more thing is vodafone have also the somewhat same speed of tata,but there is no good offer.

But it allows only 20 mb to download.In bsnl rs.14 plan allows 200mb.Why tata allows very less data usage.

Thanks for your reply. I’m able to install latest version of Nimbuzz 1.7.2 on my Micromax Q5.

But the problem is still there. I’m able to login to Nimbuzz. But after chatting for 2-3 mins, Nimbuzz hangs. To specify exactly when I enter text in phone editor and clik on Ok to enter it, it stays like that only. It displys the entered text and then nothing works. Neither the Cancel button nor the Options button. I’ve to terminate Nimbuzz and start it again.

This happens everytime. Can you please help me to solve this issue. I’m using TATA DOCOMO SIM in Maharashtra circle.

I use rs 48 plan of docomo and speed is good enough for browsing purpose but i dont know what made them(docomo) think that they decrease the uses from 2gb/month to

Really Amit, the speed hasbeen surely decreased and it might be because of addition of new docomo customers which is resulting in more network taffic. Previously (about a month ago) i was getting 5-15 kBps speed in daytime and 20-25 kBps in night here at Thane,Mumbai. I m using 5233. But now the speed fluctuates betwn 1-10 & 10-20 kBps at daytime & night respectively. But it is still far better than other operators in my area. So i m happy with it.

Really Amit, i m using docomo since march, and the speed has been decreased surprisingly. Previously i was getting 5-15 kBps in daytime & 15-25 kBps at night. That was in october and so. But now the speed which i getting today is 1-10 &10-20 kBps at daytime & night respectively. I live in Thane,Mumbai & i m using 5233. But still the speed is much better as compared to the other operators so i m happy with it.

hi all of you. I have used nearly all network GPRS . Idea- is good at speed. In early morning it gives speed of 16kb/second . In other time it gives 8-12 kb/second . Airtel – in early morning 16-20 kb/second . In other time it gives around 8 kb/second . Vodafone -give 18 kb/second download speed in early morning . Other timegive download speed 4-12 kb/second . Reliance – in early morning 20 kb/second . Other time give download speed 8-12 kb/second . All above are for 2G network. My suggestion is use vodafone if your download is of many big file means heavy use. If you use to download many small file {less than 8 mb } use reliance. If you use social networking software like facebook,queep,nimbuzz etc. them use Airtel which support all software i know {more than 20} . If you download an average no.of files {500 small files} and do lot of browsing then you should use idea. If you want to download large files { more than 150 mb size of each file } then you should use tata docomo 3G network which give download speed more than 100 kb/second {hundred kilobytes per second means you can download 100 mb only in 20 minutes }. dis 15 rs ka talktime gt over in 5 days n i didnt cald ny1.. it gt over on its own n nw i hve a network prob so bcoz of it i cnt use gprs.. so wht shud i do?
